Foundation Laid for Rs 4.8 Crore Bus Station in Mulugu

Warangal: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar and tribal welfare minister Seethakka laid the foundation stone for construction of a new Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus station at a cost of Rs 4.8 crore here at the district headquarters in Mulugu district on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Prabhakar said the new bus station will have modern amenities, including greenery, drinking water facilities and commercial space comprising four shops on the upper level and seven on the ground floor spread in around 4,000 square feet.

He said that the government is ready to construct another bus station at Mangapet by spending Rs 50 lakh. There are also plans to establish a bus station near the Gattamma Temple close to the Tribal University, Medical College and District Collectorate in around one acre of land at an estimated cost of Rs 40-50 lakh.

In addition, the minister also announced the construction of a major bus depot in Eturnagaram with Rs 7 crore on a five-acres of land. The Mulugu bus station project is expected to be completed within six months, as the tenders are finalised.

The minister said that for the first time in the country, the Telangana government procured 600 buses through women’s associations. Women are now travelling free on RTC buses saving nearly Rs 6,000 crore collectively.

He praised minister Seethakka for her continuous efforts in securing the various projects for Mulugu District. Wherever she goes, she speaks about Mulugu’s development only, he added.
