The fallout from India’s early morning military strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) was felt in Hyderabad with cancelation of some flights to and from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
In the wake of the strikes, several airports across northern India were shut temporarilyaffecting air travel nationwide. As of Wednesday morning, IndiGo cancelled 16 flights, eight arrivals and eight departures, to and from Hyderabad, according to an RGIA official.
Air India Express also cancelled two flights, one arrival and one departure, the official confirmed.
In a statement on X, IndiGo said that flights to and from key northern cities including Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Gwalior were affected due to changing airspace conditions. The airline advised passengers to check their flight status before traveling.
Air India announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot till 12 noon on May 7, pending further updates from authorities. Two international flights bound for Amritsar were diverted to Delhi, the airline added, apologising for the disruption.
Air India Express also confirmed on X that multiple flights across its network were impacted due to prevailing restrictions.
SpiceJet, meanwhile, stated that airports in Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar were closed until further notice. The airline warned of delays or cancellations of departures, arrivals, and connected flights, and urged passengers to check their schedules and plan accordingly.
