Fulfilling another key election promise, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Ponguru Narayana on Thursday announced to give permanent rights to the residents living on the banks of the Penna river in Bhagat Singh Colony of 54th Division of Nellore City constituency. Around 1,400 families will soon receive the land titles from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
This issue has been pending for the past 40 years. During the election campaign, Mr. Narayana had promised to give house registration pattas to the residents of Bhagat Singh Colony, who were reportedly cheated by the ‘fake land titles issued by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’. Mr. Narayana brought the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister.
As this issue is linked to two departments, the MA&UD Minister discussed it several times with the Ministers of Irrigation and Revenue. The NDA government sorted out the issue in the Cabinet meeting. The proposal of granting pattas to the residents of Bhagat Singh Colony was approved.
The residents of Bhagat Singh Colony expressed happiness.
“The previous YSRCP government had cheated the people by giving fake land titles. The NDA government has always been on the side of the poor. It has provided a permanent solution to a problem that remained unresolved for the last 40 years,” Mr. Narayana said.
