Hyderabad: In a step towards preventing double registrations and malpractices in agricultural property registrations, the state govt has decided make a land sketch mandatory from Aug. The provision for sketch of the agricultural land with coordinates has been incorporated in the Bhu Bharati Act, 2024.“The Telangana govt will recruit (empanel) 5,000 licensed surveyors and train them soon. The applications for the surveyors will be accepted from May 17. They will be appointed in every mandal depending upon the land extent,” revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said at a review meeting with the land survey and settlement department on Friday. He said that as of now the land survey and settlement department, which is part of the Telangana revenue department, has only 402 surveyors which was not sufficient for the entire state.Official sources said that according to sections 5 and 7 of the Bhu Bharati Act, 2024, a rough map should be enclosed while registering a property with the revenue authorities. The govt plans to use the global positioning system (GPS) and incorporate the longitude and latitude of the land with the sub-division of the area while mutating it or for registrations.Currently, the system of ‘plot sketch’ with boundaries is being implemented for non-agricultural properties. However, for agricultural properties, since the extent of land is huge and coordinates have to be recorded, it has to done by a licensed surveyor. The revenue authorities said that this will end boundary issues in agricultural properties to a large extent.Eligible candidates for licensed surveyors need to have a minimum of Intermediate with Maths as a subject and a diploma from ITIs draftsman (civil), diploma in civil or B Tech (civil). They will be given training for 50 days.
