One person was killed and 10 others were injured when a private travels bus in which they were travelling was hit from behind by a speeding truck at Kodavalur on the Nellore-Chennai national highway on Sunday.
A truck originating from Chimakurthi and going towards Chennai rammed into the bus which was parked on the roadside. A 50-year-old passenger Siringi Babu Rao, who was standing behind the bus, was crushed under the impact of the collision, while 10 other passengers, especially those seated in the rear portion, suffered serious injuries.
The injured were shifted in an 108 ambulance to the Government General Hospital in Nellore for treatment. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao rushed to the spot and launched an investigation.
