JLR India will begin local assembly of its vehicles at Tata’s new production unit in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, from early next year. JLR models will be assembled at this factory from completely knocked down (CKD) kits. The Range Rover Evoque and Velar SUVs will be the first models that will be built here. Tata Motors plans to invest Rs 9,000 crore in the Ranipet facility. The plant will have a production capacity of more than 2,50,000 units per annum once it’s completely operational.
