Hyderabad: A criminal case was registered against an employee of a lodge by the Khammam police for allegedly extorting money by blackmailing a couple who stayed on the premises.The case was registered on Sunday, but it came to light on Thursday. A 19-year-old complainant told police that he and his lover went to a lodge in April. Without their knowledge, an unknown person had recorded a video and later threatened to upload it on social media. The accused demanded money to avoid embarrassment. The victim paid him 60,000. The money was managed by the victim by selling gold of his lover. Subsequently, the accused allegedly tried to extort more money and continued to blackmail him.The complainant suspected that someone from the lodge might have secretly recorded the video and sought action. Due to fear, the teenager did not tell anyone. But due to continued harassment, he decided to seek action against the accused.
