Conjoined twins, Veena, Vani, make Hyderabad proud; complete B.Com with flying colors

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is all cheers as Veena and Vani, the conjoined twins, achieved academic success despite all odds.

The inseparable duo recently completed their B.Com from Osmania University with commendable scores.

Studying at Andhra Mahila Sabha Women’s College, Veena and Vani, conjoined twins, have never let their physical condition define their path. All that matters to them is their education.

From a young age, the twins have shown exceptional academic performance. In Class 10, Veena secured a GPA of 9.3 while Vani scored 9.2. Although they were offered an assistant to help write their exams, they chose to write them on their own—demonstrating both confidence and independence. In their Intermediate CEC stream, Veena scored 707 marks and Vani 712.

Now, both have completed their B.Com. Veena secured an SGPA of 8.2 and Vani 7.8, according to their teachers at Andhra Mahila Sabha. Their next goal? To become a Chartered Accountant.

The journey of Veena and Vani is nothing short of inspiring. Born conjoined at the head on October 16, 2003, at Niloufer Hospital, doctors once considered separation surgery. However, due to the high risks involved, it was ultimately ruled out.

For the first 13 years of their lives, they remained at Niloufer Hospital, as their parents were unable to care for them. In 2017, they were moved to Balasadanam, a state home in Madhura Nagar under the Government Women and Child Welfare Department.

Since then, Balasadanam superintendent Safia has cared for them with a mother’s love. Fondly known as “Safia Mummy,” she has become a pillar of support for the twins. “They may not be my biological children, but the bond we share is deeper than blood,” she says with pride.

With support from Safia and the Women and Child Welfare Department, a personal tutor was arranged to help the girls pursue their education. Despite physical challenges, they’ve always wanted to study like any other student. With determination and guidance, they overcame every obstacle.

Today, their hard work is paying off. Veena and Vani continue to inspire many with their resilience and dedication, proving that no challenge is too big when you have courage, support, and a dream.
