VMC Commissioner inspects work to remove waste from Budameru

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra H.M. on Wednesday (August 20) instructed authorities to remove all the obstacles blocking the flow of the Budameru drain.

The Commissioner inspected Krishna Lanka, Inner Ring Road Ramavarappadu, Budameru Vanthena, Gunadala gate and Bharatamata Colony. He inspected the work under way to remove accumulated waste in the Budameru in the Bharatamata Colony. He asked officials to ensure that the flow is not interrupted anywhere in the city.

He also instructed the engineering officials to monitor the flow of the Budameru with a drone from time to time. The Chief Engineer said the Corporation should write to Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation about the electricity poles on both sides of the Budameru drain, which may be harmful to people.

The Commissioner also inspected the arrangements as part of flood preventive measures near the retaining wall in Ramalingeswar Nagar. He said there is no need for any alarm regarding floods in the Krishna or the Budameru rivulet, and that the inflows are being monitored continuously. He clarified that the corporation is taking up flood preventive measures as a cautionary step.
