Collector urges SHG women to use AI for business expansion

Vijayawada: District collector Dr G Lakshmisha on Saturday urged women of self-help groups (SHGs) to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and digital platforms to expand their businesses globally. He spoke after inaugurating the ‘One Family – One Entrepreneur: AI for SURE’ training programme at the farmers training center in Vijayawada, jointly organised by DRDA, MEPMA, and UCD.The collector said the initiative is part of the state govt’s vision to empower at least one woman entrepreneur in every family. “Women’s creativity in producing eco-friendly toys, herbal products, millet-based foods, clothing, and handicrafts must reach global markets through technology-driven marketing,” he said.Highlighting progress in the district, Dr. Lakshmisha noted that nearly 700 SHG women already launched businesses after receiving training in branding, marketing, and financial management. Now, 160 women entrepreneurs are being trained in AI applications such as designing brochures, reels, and social media content, besides exploring e-commerce opportunities. He emphasised that digital tools will help SHG women connect directly with buyers worldwide, enhancing income and improving living standards. “This programme is a vital step towards realising Swarnandhra @2047,” he added.Prof. Spoorti of NIT Warangal, who led the sessions, said he was delighted to see women’s enthusiasm for AI-based marketing. The training spanned two six-hour sessions covering AI applications and digital promotion strategies.DRDA PD ANV Nanchara Rao, UCD PO P Venkata Narayana, rural federation president K Kalpana, and urban federation president K Meenakshi also participated.
