Is Lokesh Kanagaraj bearing the brunt of Coolie?

Lokesh Kangaraj has been hyped up to be the biggest brand in Tamil Film after Vikram. His Lokesh Cinematic Universe has gained huge appreciation and anticipation of South Indian audiences. But his next films, Leo and Coolie, did not live up to expectations. Leo did earn huge Rs.575 crores gross and even Coolie earned over Rs.500 crores gross at the box office. While both films’ producers have confirmed that they did not lose money on projects but fans bashed the narrative quality.

Mainly, Coolie had been hyped up to be Tamil Cinema’s first Rs.1000 crores worldwide and the content did not live up to it. With big stars like King Nagarjuna in villainous role, Upendra and Aamir Khan playing cameos, many expected great cinematic experience like Vikram but Coolie ended up being too lame.

None of the cameos had any impact and even Nagarjuna’s role attracted huge backlash except for his looks, style. So, the Tamil media reports state that Lokesh Kangaraj is bearing the brunt of the failure of Coolie. While he had been scheduled to direct Kaithi 2 with Karthi, the movie is said to be dropped.

Also, if he is working on Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan film or not has been a big suspence. Rajini categorically stated that they did not finalise the director yet. In the meanwhile, Lokesh is getting ready to star in Arun Matheswaran’s project. Well, if he dropped Kaithi 2 and idea of LCU or not is yet to be confirmed. Being such a celebrated filmmaker in recent times, one film cannot be so big issue. Let’s hope he would announce his projects, soon.
