My first long road trip in my Mahindra BE 6 eliminated my range anxiety

My first long road trip in my Mahindra BE 6 eliminated my range anxiety BHPian BE6_INNOVA recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Bangalore GoaWe started our trip from Vijayanagar, Bangalore at 6:30 AM with 99% charge. The BE.6 delivered a fantastic first impression – a very quiet, smooth, and composed drive. Our first stop was at Purohit Hotel, Hiriyur (175 km), around 9:00 AM for breakfast. I put the car on charge for 35 minutes, adding 23 kWh at a cost of 490. We left at 10:00 AM with 87% charge and reached Ganesh Hotel, Hubli at 12:45 PM with only 18% battery remaining – a result of some spirited driving for about 120 km, averaging 120 km/h, which drained the battery quickly. At Hubli, I charged the car for 88 minutes, costing 1,400. We then left around 2:45 PM, taking the Hubli-Belgaum-Tilari Ghat-Baga route (235 km). During this stretch, I finally learned how to drive an EV efficiently – kept the speed between 80-100 km/h, and managed to cover 235 km using only 50% battery, helped by the downhill terrain. We reached our resort at 6:30 PM, completing the journey in 12 hours total, including about 3 hours of breaks (spent extra time figuring out charging apps, loading balance, etc., since it was my first time charging outside home).Goa BangaloreWe started the return journey from Cavelossim (South Goa) with 78% charge. My resort provided free charging through a 3.3 kW portable charger, topping up to 95%, which I used for local travel in Goa. Later, I charged at Club Mahindra from 58% 80%, costing 270 for 1 hour (7 kW slow charger). We left Cavelossim at 12:30 PM for Dudhsagar Falls (48 km) and reached by 2:00 PM. Unfortunately, the jeeps weren’t operational, so we left around 2:30 PM and headed towards Hubli via Ramnagar (110 km), reaching Big Mishra Peda, Hubli at 4:30 PM with 44% battery remaining. Charged here for 55 minutes, costing 740, reaching 92% charge. Left Hubli at 6:00 PM and reached Chitradurga EV Mitra Charging Station (235 km) by 9:00 PM with 48% charge left. Charged again to 96%, taking 90 minutes and costing 260. Had dinner at Aishwarya Fort Hotel, just a 3-minute walk from the station. Left Chitradurga around 10:45 PM and reached home at 2:00 AM (203 km) – traffic was heavy, but the BE.6 made the drive effortless.Trip SummaryBangalore GoaDistance: 635 kmTime: 12 hours (including 3-hour breaks)Stops: 2Charging Cost: 2,200Goa Bangalore (via Dudhsagar)Distance: 620 kmTime: 13.5 hours (including 3.5-hour breaks)Stops: 2Charging Cost: 1,000 (with ~50% charge left = ~200 km remaining)Total Cost: ~3,000 for ~1,255 km Average Cost/km: ~2.4/km Overall, the Mahindra BE.6 impressed me throughout the trip – stable on highways, silent on ghats, and surprisingly efficient once I learned to manage speed and regen braking. This drive completely removed my range anxiety and showed how practical long-distance EV travel in India has become. Can’t wait for my next adventure!
