All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday (November 14) thanked party workers from Bihar and Telangana for working hard to secure the victory in the Seemnachal and in the Jubilee Hills byelections respectively.

Mr. Owaisi said that his party emerged victorious in Amour , Baisi, Kochadhaman , Bahadurganj, and in Jokihat, apart from polling significant numbers in several other constituencies.

Addressing the media at his residence in Hyderabad, Mr. Owaisi said that his party respects the people’s verdict in Bihar. He offered his congratulations and good wishes to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and said the party would work for the development of the State, as there was work to be done in the fields of creating employment and developing public infrastructure . He reiterated that Seemanchal’s long standing demands for justice and development would remain at the core of his party’s work. “We will not leave Seemanchal,” he said.

Touching upon the Jubilee Hills bypoll, he thanked voters of Jubilee Hills for ensuring the victory of Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav whom the AIMIM had supported. “I thank the voters of Jubilee Hills who made Naveen Yadav successful,” he said, adding that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had thanked him and that he had conveyed his congratulations in return. He described the win as a significant achievement after the 2023 elections.

Commenting on political developments in Bihar, Mr. Owaisi said he had consistently maintained that the Rashtriya Janata Dal could not halt the advance of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Issuing a word of caution to the electors of that State, he said that they were under a misconception surrounding the Muslim-Yadav combination. He urged the community to move beyond being mere participants in electoral politics and instead become active political stakeholders.

He also said the reduction in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s vote share had been evident from the beginning,. He hoped that the Telangana CM Revanth Reddy would work towards improving civic amenities in Hyderabad, including improvements to sewage networks and water supply, particularly for those belonging to weaker sections of society.

On a question related to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Mr. Owaisi said it was too soon comment. He added that political parties needed to introspect and shed any belief that Muslims constituted a captive vote bank or political bonded labour.
