Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asserted that the Telangana Rising – 2047 is a vision document that has been conceived with an aim to build a robust Telangana where women, youth, marginalised and other sections are empowered to compete and meet the emerging challenges.

The document presents roadmap for investment in the future where people get social justice and are given equal opportunities, he added. “I am spending on welfare to create level playing field. I am investing in future to make people compete with developed countries like Germany, Japan, Singapore and others,” the Chief Minister said at the valedictory of the two-day Telangana Rising Global Summit on Tuesday.

The vision document was not prepared in the closed doors, but was reflective of the aspirations of the vast majority of people of the State. The government had involved all sections as stakeholders in the preparation of the document and over four lakh people joined the exercise online giving suggestions to the government, he explained.

Telangana, comprising 2.9 % of the population, was presently contributing to 5% of the country’s GDP. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi setting a target of US $ 30 trillion economy through Viksit Bharat, the government had decided to ensure that Telangana’s contribution rises to 10%, US $ 3 trillion, by that time.

Education, irrigation and communication would be among the key areas in this direction taking inspiration from developed countries like Japan, Germany and Singapore. The Chief Minister explained the reasons behind the document claiming that “I have myself seen the problems of the poor since my childhood”. “I am from a farmers family and don’t have any political legacy. From the smallest position as ZP member in 2006, I have risen as MLC, MLA, MP and party president before becoming the Chief Minister. It took 17 years for me to reach the position,” he said turning nostalgic.

Mr. Revanth Reddy said the document had been designed o ensure that lives of youth and other sections were impacted making them competitive. He explained the participants how social stigmas like caste discrimination persisted in the country. “Despite speaking about eradication of caste discrimination, hostels are constructed separately for STs, SC, BCs and minorities,” he wondered.

The government had therefore conceived Young India integrated residential schools where students from all schools studied together. “We are spending ₹200 crore each on these schools which will have inclusive infrastructure,” he said.

He said the education sector in fact did not have quality or skill components inbuilt in it in spite of the enactment of the Right to Education Act. “My government has therefore initiated skills university which will be governed by Mahindra Group’s Anand Mahindra,” he said. He lamented that India, the country with 140 crore population, could unfortunately not secure gold medal in Olympics. “That is why we have conceived the sports university,” he told the participants.

The policy document comprehensively covered all these aspects to ensure that the State achieved all-round development in the time frame set for the purpose. “I want you to join us in the journey,” he said inviting industry majors and other stakeholders to join hands with the State government in its journey towards the US $ 3 trillion economy.
