The Hyderabad City Police conducted a coordination and sensitisation meeting with liquor shop owners operating within the North Zone, warning them of stringent action for any violation of excise rules or lapses affecting public safety.

The meeting, chaired by North Zone DCP S Rashmi Perumal, focused on the responsibilities of licence holders in maintaining law and order and ensuring strict compliance with excise regulations. Wine shop owners were instructed to adhere to permitted liquor sale timings and were categorically warned against selling alcohol to minors or allowing consumption by underage persons.

Police officials stressed the need to prevent overcrowding and ensure orderly conduct at all premises, while cautioning licence holders against overcharging, illegal sales or unauthorised extension of operating hours. Owners were also directed to install CCTV cameras covering entry and exit points, billing counters and common areas, and to ensure that the systems remain functional with adequate data backup for review when required.

The police made it clear that in the event of assaults, quarrels or medical emergencies, immediate intimation to the police is mandatory and that FIRs would be registered without delay against those responsible. Owners were also directed to deploy trained, physically fit and alert security personnel capable of handling crowd control, especially during peak hours, and to ensure that security staff remain sober at all times.

Police cautioned that any breach of excise rules or the instructions issued during the meeting would invite stringent legal action. The public was also urged to cooperate with enforcement agencies and adhere to the law to ensure public safety and orderly conduct.
