Is OTT platform forcing HHVM and Kingdom to release in same week?

Pawan Kalyan is one of the biggest stars of Indian Cinema, and his film Hari Hara Veera Mallu has been delayed due to Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments. Even after the shooting has beenn completed, the movie team had to postpone it thrice in the same year from March to till date.

Now, the team is hoping to finally release in July. While they have tight deals with OTT platform, it is stated that they have given an ultimatum to release it by the end of the month, without any further delays. Also, even Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom cannot go beyond July and the team cannot finish the work by 4th July.

Even 11th and 18th July dates are hard to push for the film, say reports. Hence, the movie team needed to lock in 25th July date and even HHVM could not go beyond it. So, they also locked 24th July date, to take one day advantage at the least.

While, in an ideal situation, Pawan Kalyan film producer AM Rathnam would have loved to have at least 2 weeks free run at the box office, for the kind of delays he had to adore. But the ultimatum for both teams from OTT platforms, who gave huge amounts for the digital rights did lead to this kind of a deal, suggest reports.

Among the distributors and exhibitors, the producers have sent in the feelers to adjust the theatres accordingly for both the films releasing a day apart, say reports. While Gautam Tinnanuri is directing Kingdom, Jyoti Krisna completed HHVM begun by Krish. Interestingly, Krish’s next Ghati with Anushka Shetty is releasing on 11th July.

Kingdom has also been delayed by 6 months from its planned date and from May it has been shifted to 4th July and now, they have to release it on 25th July. Well, July seems to be the month of war for Telugu Cinema while they missed out on lucrative Summer season with no big releases. Producers have to seriously introspect after this fiasco about the production schedules, delays and OTT platforms’ unreal control on release dates, if the reports are to be believed.
