Why did the question of early elections arise?
The central government on Saturday issued a notification setting up an eight-member high-level committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind to look into the issue of simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, municipalities and panchayats and make recommendations as soon as possible. The final voter list for the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh will be published on October 5. Newly eligible voters should register their names in the voter list.
